This book is for...

Childbirth Educators

For instructors just starting to teach VBAC, this book contains background information, class outlines, activities and handouts, and information on adult learning and teaching strategies. The goal is to help you feel confident right from the start.

For the experienced VBAC teacher it offers class enrichment and a chance to update your knowledge of VBAC research. We hope it will help you find new enjoyment in your work.

Office Nurses

Office nurses are often asked to do VBAC patient education, but don't have time to research content or make handouts. This binder offers ready-made handouts, and information on issues patients often ask about.

Labor and Delivery Nurses and Nursing Supervisors

Labor and Delivery nurses deal with all the physical and emotional aspects of VBAC on a day-to-day basis. Chapter 2 gives an overview of psychological issues that influence mothers' decisions and their ability to cope with labor.

Chapter 3 includes handouts designed to help mothers avoid repeating the “back labor” or “baby didn't fit” scenarios they encountered in previous labors.

Chapter 4 provides materials for use in VBAC inservice training, including a pre/post test, learning activities, and reading materials.

Directors of Women's Health

Understanding the needs of women contemplating VBAC is useful for designing and marketing services that will attract them. Chapter 1 provides information you may wish to include in advertising materials. Chapter 2 will give you insight into the issues that concern mothers who are pregnant after previous cesareans.
